I on the other hand think, (and she is far better at this than I), that it can be either way; Yes, (comma) Ma'am or Yes (no comma) Ma'am depending on sentence structure. WebAnd the shortened "Ma'am" is considered acceptable when addressing the Queen (only after the first time, when you must say "Your Majesty"), so I'd say that's always okay in speech.
