It sounds like you may now have an infection in the nail bed which may, or may not, be linked to the line in the nail. I suggest you go back to your GP to be checked out. It's very unlikely it's subungal melanoma as it is rare and the line would be in the nail bed. But it does need getting sorted out if it's infected.
